In light of the reminder from En Zamri, I think it will also be a good time to remind our postgraduate students that the campus is a no-smoking zone. This of course includes Block 22 and 23.
This has already been voiced by Dr MNK in a departmental meeting but the practice of smoking in Block 23 persists. On top of that, these student smokers are an irresponsible lot where cigarette butts are thrown around, particularly in Level 1 and Ground Floor of Block 23. These are such disgusting habits. The lady cleaners have warned the smokers but they were scolded instead.
Therefore, I would like to suggest to the PG Committee to send a strong reminder to the PG students not to smoke on campus. If the problem still continues, perhaps I’ll organize one day where the cleaners will be told not to clear off the cigarette butts and I will round up all the PG students in Block 23 to clean them instead, whether they are smokers or not.
